Dissent’N’Gin
behind the song
Dissent’N’Gin is a song with three movements: the groove, the build and the climax.
However, throughout each movement, the drums stay constant, to hold down the groove.
…but a groove isn’t grooving without a bass line.
“the groove”
the first time’s the best time
and that’s why it’s free
the night time's the right time
get on top of me
the last time is never the last time
admit it, you’re sprung
faceless and wasted, but you’re #1
tasteless measures, baseless pleasures. we be
racing time, but chasing leather. for the
killer vibe, the storms we weather. getting
lazy faced on drinks we never finish.
finish the rhyme, the rhythm divine. i’m thinking,
useless lines, and shameful lies. you giving,
me the green, go head and drive.
fat bodied verses, and ties that bind
“the build”
the tone shifts.
the bass drops the groove and starts crawling up a minor scale.
violin adds tension in the upper register.
“…temperatures rising…”
“the climax”
we got some help from DJ Ace “The Cut Lieutenant”, to add some of his signature scratches to push the climax over the edge.
